Common reasons include sending someone just the pages they need instead of a whole 100-page manual, separating scanned receipts into individual files, breaking a book into chapters, or removing a few pages you want to keep private before sharing the rest.
Splitting keeps the pages you select in a new file. If instead you want to remove a few pages and keep the rest as one document, extract the ranges that exclude the unwanted pages — for example, if you want to drop page 4 of a 6-page PDF, extract 1-3, 5-6.
